‘Philanthropy is not about the money. It’s about using whatever resources you have at your fingertips and applying them to improving the world’: Melinda Gates
As part of Olea Group’s ethos, our core focus is being actively involved in community initiatives, including promoting awareness around these causes.
On 17th August 2023, in celebration of women’s month, OLEA South Africa kicked off its community involvement project as a proud sponsor and partner of the RADA MiPad initiative. The campaign provides re-usable sanitary towels to learners at De La Rey Primary school in Roodepoort. The school was identified as being located in one of the most vulnerable communities in Gauteng.
This initiative is a catalyst for transformative change, ensuring that numerous young learners, who previously missed many school days during their menstrual periods for lack of sanitary wear, can now attend school during this time.
At OLEA South Africa, we are passionate about education and delighted to be able to help these young learners stay in school

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness month – Pink October - OLEA South Africa’s staff joined together to acknowledge the woman, their families and friends affected by breast cancer. In honour of those fighting cancer, we invited each team member to write a word on our ‘pink board’, showing their support and acknowledgement for anyone affected directly or indirectly by breast cancer.
OLEA South Africa is also supporting the ILoveBoobies charity. This charity’s mission is to educate women about breast cancer and offer clinical screening for women, with limited access to funds and access to medical facilities.
Throughout the month of October OLEA South Africa ran a drive to donate ‘gently worn’ bras to ILoveBoobies to donate to women who cannot afford their own. At the end of the month, we will hand over these bra contributions to the ILoveBoobies organisation.

Rika Powel, Head of Finance for OLEA South Africa, and Uegene Williams collaborated in organising a community event on Heritage Day. The 250 disabled residents cared for at the Connie Mulder Centre in Randfontein, were treated to a traditional South African braai.
The Centre is not only a safe haven for the disabled but enables Sheltered Employment which plays a vital role in the treatment programme at the Centre. OLEA South Africa rallied support from small vendors and then, together with local staff members, helped create a memorable day for the residents.
We hope we have made a small difference in everyone’s lives. youtu.be/B9ejIKAGGcI
