OLEA joins Africa down under 2025!

Vincent LAMOUCHE (CEO OLEA Côte d’Ivoire), Stephen Yeboah KWARTENG (CEO OLEA Ghana) and Adrian READ (Mining Consultant, OLEA South Africa) joined the 2025 Africa Down Under mining conference in Perth, Australia. Africa Down Under is the leading forum for Australian- African business and government relations and was first launched to raise awareness of Australia’s interests in African mining and energy. The three-day meeting has evolved to become the largest African-focused mining event held outside the continent itself, which is reflected by the number of high-profile participants who attend each year.

In addition to speakers from the host’s Federal and Western Australian administration, the governments of Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mali, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe participated in the conference.

The OLEA team met exhibitors and delegates from over 100 mining companies that operate in Africa. We provide the optimum combination of Africa-wide strength and local knowledge to enable compliant, cost effective and efficient cover for the extractive industry.

OLEA, with its 25 country own-office network and deep mining industry expertise is uniquely positioned to provide insurance solutions to mining companies across the Africa continent.

Bukhosi’s Reflections from London and Paris: A Journey of perspective, purpose and pride

Over the past few weeks, I had the privilege of spending time in London and Paris, two cities that continue to define the rhythm of global business, culture and innovation and London particularly, the insurance industry. The trip offered not only valuable professional exposure but also deep personal reflection on how Africa fits into this evolving global landscape.

A moment of recognition

One of the highlights of the trip was being honoured with an award from the Business Insider as the most commendable for the Young Broker of the Year, a humbling reminder that our work, rooted in purpose and collaboration, resonates beyond borders. Standing among peers and global leaders, I was reminded that recognition is rarely individual, it reflects the collective effort, support and shared vision of the people and teams around us.

It was also a proud moment for Africa, a continent that is increasingly being acknowledged not as a peripheral participant, but as an important player in the global economy – innovative, young and full of possibility. Every conversation reinforced how the world’s gaze is shifting towards Africa out of curiosity and genuine recognition of the potential it holds.

Our economies are increasingly digitalising, our entrepreneurs are scaling globally and our thinkers are shaping new frameworks for leadership and innovation. The award I received felt like part of that larger narrative: One that says Africa doesn’t just have potential, it has momentum.

A few reflections

Travel has a way of grounding and expanding you all at once. This journey reminded me that we grow most when we step outside what’s familiar, when we see the world not just for what it is, but for what it can become.

To those who made the trip meaningful through their time, insights and warmth, thank you. The conversations, lessons and inspiration gathered along the way will certainly shape how I show up in the months ahead.
Until next time, here’s to perspective, purpose and the power of possibility.
